Today's Reading:
1 Corinthians 15:52-53 (NIV)

in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NIV)
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever.  Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 John 3:2 (NIV)
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.  But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Consider this:
  • We will be made new in the new creation.  How will we be different than we are now?
  • What will you be able to do that you cannot do now?
  • What does 1 John 3:2 say about the mystery of our future existence?
  • What was Jesus like after His resurrection?
Treasure Application:
  • Our current bodies are limited and fragile.  How does that impact our ability to SERVE OTHERS?
  • How do our current bodies force us into situations where we need to be served by others?
  • In the new heaven and new earth you will have a new body.  Will you need to EXPERIENCE HEALING then?  How do you think that may impact how or why we serve others then?
