Pastor Phillipa Herrera Miller
A little about our speaker...
Phillipa Herrera Miller is a pastor of FirstStone Church just outside of Belize City, Belize. She is an accountant by trade who has been active in promoting poverty alleviation in the community and raising the bar of morality through education and individual development.
The Chain of Love Foundation feeds almost 100 children daily from Monday to Fridays. Before COVID-19, volunteers also tutored primary schoolers for better understanding of their subject matter and were assisted with their educational studies up to a bachelor's degree.
The Foundation has trained youths to teach in remote villages annually for a week. It has also assisted in home improvements for some women, so their living condition is better.
Herrera Miller says, "As a pastor, over the years I have seen the evidence of some women and young people catching the vision of an upliftment in their lives by not only pursuing personal goals, but also being an encouragement to others to seek a better way of life. Loving their neighbors and wanting better for them. Caring for each other..."
Herrera Miller has been active since 2006 in community outreach, hosting summer camps, youth activities, and women's support groups. In the early stages of the ministry and scholarship efforts, she personally paid for their initiatives out of her own pocket. She now praises GOD for the support she has through the church, a friend, and one INTERNATIONAL church partner (Discovery Church, Hickory, North Carolina).
She concludes, "There has been a lot of struggles, but also many victories won, praise GOD!"
