The Steel is the Deal!

This week we began taking delivery of steel.  The manufacturer made four deliveries on Monday and four deliveries on Tuesday.  As you can see in the video below the old "bowl" parking area is being used as a laydown yard.  The steel you see is what is called architectural steel.  That is to say, these are the bones of the new building.  These are the large pieces we saw being welded together on our trip to the manufacturing plant.

Deliveries will continue next week and be at least as much material as we received this week!

Digging a Pond

Work on the retention pond continues.  The pond is critical to the overall project because it allows us to ensure that the work higher up on the site will not allow any eroded dirt or debris to be washed into nearby waterways.  This means that the way the pond is dug has been rigorously engineered and has to be carefully executed.  I know it seems like something that should be done in a short period of time but our folks are taking the time required to make sure it is done right the first time.  This helps us to build trust and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies and inspectors overseeing this project.  Doing it the right way now will continue to pay off in goodwill through the remainder of the project.
