Construction &
Building Update

A River Not a Pond: Reflecting Jesus

We’re called to be like a flowing river—warm, welcoming, and always reaching out—never a still pond. Our growth is about genuinely connecting with people, meeting them where they are, and creating a loving community where everyone feels at home. Together, we’re building a place that reflects Jesus’ heart and invites all to belong and grow.

Keep checking here for updates and ways to be part of the growth of Discovery Church!

New Handicap Access
Coming Soon

We’re excited to share great news!
The area behind the Roseman House,
our North Lot, is being paved and will soon offer dedicated handicap access parking. This new lot includes a convenient ramp and a direct entrance into the church, making it easier for everyone to join us. We expect the project to be completed by early December.

...In Other News...
A wide, muddy field of red clay that has been graded for construction, with trees, a fence, and a building in the background under a gray, cloudy sky.

Preparing for Grading

While you may see little more than dirt and fencing now, this is an important step as we prepare the site for grading. Recent rain has slowed our progress, but our team is diligently adjusting timelines to keep the project moving forward.

Thank you for your prayers and patience—every effort brings us closer to the new space God is preparing for Discovery.

More Room for Parking

More Room for Parking

We’re excited to make room for more parking to better serve our growing Discovery family. While we don’t take removing trees lightly, clearing this one was necessary to create the space needed.

Every change brings us closer to a more accessible and welcoming Discovery experience.

preview of what Discovery Church will look like when it’s complete, with a targeted completion date of mid-2027. This new space is not about growing bigger but about equipping our church family to reflect more of Jesus and to be a river that flows wide and deep, not just a pond.

Every step forward brings us closer to the future God is preparing for us.

Common Construction Questions

Before we officially break ground, there are a few important updates and smaller improvements and changes happening around Discovery to get everything ready. We’re excited to share that we’re aiming to begin construction this September! We can’t wait to take this next big step together.

If you have any more questions, we’d love to hear from you! Just send us an email at building@discoverychurchhickory.com.

Your message will go straight to our Building Committee, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We’re so glad you asked!

Volunteering is our biggest need right now, and there are many ways to get involved:

  • Greeting
  • SWAT – setup/teardown
  • Parking
  • Ushering
  • Coffee Bar
  • Shuttle Team – driving & communicators
  • Welcome Team – visitor tents and welcome desk

You can sign up online on our website or call the church office. Your help creates a warm, welcoming community where everyone belongs.

Don’t worry – parking is still available for everyone! Our trained parking team will be onsite to guide you right where you need to go. We also have golf carts and people movers ready to shuttle folks, especially those parked in Lot E, which is the farthest from the church entrance. Throughout construction, we’ll keep you updated if anything changes, and our parking team will always be on hand to help make your arrival as smooth as possible.

Because parking will be a bit more challenging as we grow, we recommend arriving a little earlier than usual. It might take some extra time to find a spot, catch a shuttle, grab a coffee or water, and get settled before worship starts. Giving yourself those extra minutes will help you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the service.

Yes, the entrances will change eventually, but not right away. We’ll make sure to give you plenty of notice before any changes happen. Plus, we’ll have clear signs and welcoming greeters at every entrance to help you find your way easily.

We keep the construction hotline updated at least once a week—and even more often if there’s important news to share. For the latest updates, please call 704-800-4907. We’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way!
