Foundation Prep Work Has Started

All the prep has started and it won't be long now until we see the concrete pad for the Worship Center foundation!

More Happenings

Earth is Moving

Earth is moving and land is leveling—major grading changes prepare our site for the next big phase!

Level Ground Ahead

Massive earth-moving progress levels the ground, setting a solid foundation for what's ahead.

Stacks of long metal framing materials, like steel studs and beams, rest on wooden blocks at a sunny outdoor construction site with trees in the background.

Steel Has Arrived

Steel has arrived and is ready to go up—our building project takes a huge step forward!

Paving Complete at Roseman House

We’re excited to share great news!
Great progress on the North Lot behind the Roseman House!

The area has been paved, with just a few finishing touches left. We'll share more details on full access and church parking updates soon.

Thank you for your patience!

More Room for Parking

More Room for Parking

We’re excited to make room for more parking to better serve our growing Discovery family. While we don’t take removing trees lightly, clearing this one was necessary to create the space needed.

Every change brings us closer to a more accessible and welcoming Discovery experience.

Discovery 2027

Discovery 2027

Preview of what Discovery Church will look like when it’s complete, with a targeted completion date of mid-2027. This new space is not about growing bigger but about equipping our church family to reflect more of Jesus and to be a river that flows wide and deep, not just a pond.

Every step forward brings us closer to the future God is preparing for us.

BUILDING PROJECT: See What's Happening
LIVE WEBCAM

At Discovery Church, our Testify
building campaign is about more than bricks and walls, it’s about creating spaces where disciples grow, lives are changed, and the
next generation encounters Jesus. Every gift
is a testimony to God’s faithfulness and
helps build what’s ahead.

Huge Milestone: Firewall Foundation

updated:  May 12, 2026

Aerial view of a construction site where a large concrete pump truck is pouring a new firewall foundation next to an existing building, with workers nearby.

The firewall is an important structural
and safety barrier connecting the two buildings. It may not look exciting yet,
but it’s a major step that prepares the way for everything coming next.

A large concrete pump truck with its boom extended and a concrete mixer truck are on a construction site with red dirt under a clear blue sky.

Concrete crews are pouring the foundation for the firewall between our current building and the new addition — a huge milestone in the project.  Next step is building the red brick firewall.

Once the firewall is complete, even
more visible progress will start taking
shape quickly — framing, structure,
and new spaces coming together.
Exciting days ahead!

Concrete & Piping

Concrete Work Underway

Concrete foundations and footings are taking shape—building a rock-solid base for what's coming next!

work is being prepped.

Shaping our site for strength
and stability!

Three construction workers in safety gear pour wet concrete from a chute into the ground next to a large concrete box on a red clay construction site.

Retention Pond & Piping

Our retention pond is complete with piping installed on the backside of the property to effectively capture stormwater runoff and prevent flooding.

Campus Lighting

Cabling for the street lights along the entrance and loop road has started being installed.  Once the remaining utilities have been located they will be able to complete the installation.  Anticipate completion in the next two or three weeks.

Pad Work in Progress

Pad work complete with the exception of a few loads of dirt.  When you look out at the area now you are seeing the final grade of the soil.  Add several inches of gravel and several inches of concrete on top of that and you will be at the final gate of the building floor.

                                - March 4

Building Footers

Footer installation begins
next week as weather allows.  These will be the large, rebar reinforced concrete anchors supporting the steel bones of the building. You will see them being built two to three at a time throughout the
building area.

Common Construction Questions

Before we officially break ground, there are a few important updates and smaller improvements and changes happening around Discovery to get everything ready. We’re excited to share that we’re aiming to begin construction this September! We can’t wait to take this next big step together.

If you have any more questions, we’d love to hear from you! Just send us an email at building@discoverychurchhickory.com.

Your message will go straight to our Building Committee, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We’re so glad you asked!

Volunteering is our biggest need right now, and there are many ways to get involved:

  • Greeting
  • SWAT – setup/teardown
  • Parking
  • Ushering
  • Coffee Bar
  • Shuttle Team – driving & communicators
  • Welcome Team – visitor tents and welcome desk

You can sign up online on our website or call the church office. Your help creates a warm, welcoming community where everyone belongs.

Don’t worry – parking is still available for everyone! Our trained parking team will be onsite to guide you right where you need to go. We also have golf carts and people movers ready to shuttle folks, especially those parked in Lot E, which is the farthest from the church entrance. Throughout construction, we’ll keep you updated if anything changes, and our parking team will always be on hand to help make your arrival as smooth as possible.

Because parking will be a bit more challenging as we grow, we recommend arriving a little earlier than usual. It might take some extra time to find a spot, catch a shuttle, grab a coffee or water, and get settled before worship starts. Giving yourself those extra minutes will help you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the service.

Yes, the entrances will be changing. We’ll make sure to give you plenty of notice before any changes happen. Plus, we’ll have clear signs and welcoming greeters at every entrance to help you find your way easily.

We keep the construction hotline updated at least once a week -  more often if there’s important news to share. For the latest updates, please call 828.855.2200 Option #5.   We’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way!
