Building Project Update for 4/14/2026

Footers continue to be poured.  There isn't much to see at ground level because most of the work is being done below grade.

The big thing you will see on Sunday is the structure that will be the foundation for the firewall that will run the entire length of the east wall of the current building.  This mass of concrete will take quite a bit of time to cure but we could see masonry work start on the actual firewall as early as three weeks from now.

Installation of the 2" forced main sewer line is completed and the line has being rerouted around the retention pond area.  Check out the pictures below!

Work will continue as this week and next as the dam and other final structures start being put into final position.

Duke Power crews finally arrived onsite today.  All power poles will be installed this week.  Unfortunately, due to a paperwork mistake at Duke the two streetlights nearest the building won't be wired in until early next week.  Regardless, I expect all of the lighting in the north lot to be installed and operational by the time you get the building update next week.

The legacy security system has been converted to the new NVR equipment.  The next steps for the security system will be to start upgrading the cameras in the DKM expansion area since it will be relatively unaffected by renovation activity.  This will take place over the next several weeks as we find time to work individual installs into our schedules.

The overall design is nearing completion and I hope to have it ready for ministries to review by the time of next week's update.

A small amount of rain (⅛ inch) fell on Sunday but did not affect work.

The concrete contractor continued to work on footings for building “A”.   Soils were tested for compaction and rebar was inspected for compliance.  Soils were ok to install rebar.

The plumbing contractor began digging the new 2” forced main to reroute around the detention pond. (2 men)

Weather conditions were clear with no rain.

Weekly safety and alignment meeting was held. Grading, concrete, plumbing
and electrical contractors were in attendance.

The concrete contractor continued digging footings for building “A” and install rebar. (5 men)

The plumbing contractor finished digging in the new 2” forced main and called for inspection on Wednesday.

Weather conditions were clear with no rain.

The concrete contractor continued to dig the footings for building “A”.  (4 men)

The plumbing contractor was cleared to cover the sewer line and connect to the
existing line.  The inspector will stop by and inspect the connection.

Third-party inspector tested the soil in the footings and approved for pour.

The concrete contractor continued to dig and prepare column and wall footings. (6 men)

The third-party inspector and structural engineer inspected the rebar and anchor rods and approved for pouring.

The plumbing contractor connected the sewer line and had it inspected.  (2 men) 

Weather is clear with high in the mid 80s.

The concrete contractor poured footings for the second retaining wall and
several perimeter column footings.  (4 men)
