Building Project Update for 8/5/2026

The final floor staining and polishing has been completed.

All blocking and wall patching and repairs have been completed.

The final coats of pain are going on right now.

Doors have been hung and are awaiting glass and hardware.

The space is still on schedule to have the certificate of occupancy released on time (8/15).

The new construction entrance was scheduled to be completed at the same time as the Children's remodel (8/15).  A technical issue with ADA compliance required us to redesign the area leading up to the entrance.

The changes will allow us to create a much more attractive entry area.  When the project is completed these changes will also leave the student ministry with a nice outdoor space to socialize.

Currently we anticipate the changes to take three to four additional weeks.  Next week demolition of the existing area should be started and completed.  Modifications and construction in that area should take a week or two.  Finally inspections should take another week or so.  The dates are pretty squishy right now but we will be getting them dialed in soon.

Work continues on Building A but it may appear to have slowed down.  It is still going at full speed.  The crews are doing much of the detail work.  With the big steel they still have to install corrugated metal, horizontal girts, cross bracing, roof purlins, header beams, and lots of other small metal components for windows and doors.  They also have to install insulation and sealing membranes.  It may not look as impressive as the steel going up but these are the details that will make the building last for many years to come and remain comfortable to be in.

At this point there is a lot of attention going into exterior wall building and the transition area between the existing and new structures.  The next elements you will see spinning up are electrical and ductwork being installed right below the roof.  Also there will be internal steel beams being installed to support the elevated seating areas as well as wall framing.

Building B is going through the exact same process as Building A did.  The steel nearly jumped out of the ground at the end of last week.  While Building A continues to be the priority, crews are never idle.  They work on Building B whenever they aren't active in Building A.

Most of the major elements in and all the remaining metal structures are coming in right behind everything.  Building B is so much smaller that it is catching up with Building A in short order.

This week the low voltage project focused on two areas.  

First, the fiber optic backbone cable was ran from the core network rack to the edge rack in the children's area.  A crew is onsite today installing connectors and testing them.  Next week we will swap over from the temporary connection to the permanent connection.

Second, the automation work for the campus security system and associated panels was completed.  In the coming week or two the Security System Panels should be installed at the carport entrance of the Roseman House and the front entrance of the Discipleship Building.  Two more will be built and be ready for installation in Building A and Building B.

1.25” of rain fell over the weekend but did not affect work.

The steel erection company continued to install columns and beams for the front porch area.  (4 men)

The electrical contractor continued to work on the rough-in for Building “ A”.  (3 men)

Above-ceiling inspection was performed for mechanical.  Passed.

Charlotte Steel continued with installing bracing and clips for the masonry firewall.  (4 men)

Ceiling grid and tile installation for children’s area was completed.  (4 men)

Charlotte Steel installed clips and bracing for the firewall.  (4 men)

Special inspection was performed to check anchor rod embedment and clip location.  Embedment was approved, and anchor rods were epoxied in.  24 hr cure time.

Steel erectors began setting steel for building “B” while continuing to install siding on building “A”.  (6 men)

Electrical contractor continued with above-ceiling rough-in on building “A”.  (3 men)

Steel erectors continued with building “B” setting steel and continuing to install siding on building “A”.  (6 men)

Electricians continued with above-ceiling rough-in on building “A”.  (3 men)

Framing contractor performed wall repair in children’s area where TV was relocated.  (1 man)

Flooring contractor began staining and polishing floors in children’s area.  (4 men)

Steel erection continued with wall panels on building “A” and steel for building “B”.  (6 men)

Electrical rough -in continued in building “A”.  (3 men)

The concrete contractor prepped area below the ramp for pouring concrete.  (3 men)

Charlotte Steel came to tighten anchor rods and perform cleanup.  (3 men)

Flooring contractor completed staining and polishing floors in the children’s area.  (4 men)

Steel erection continued on buildings “A” and “B”.  (6 men)

Electrical trimout began in children’s area.  (4 men)

The concrete contractor poured slab for building “A” lower lobby section and installed anchor rods.  (4 men)
