Building Project Update for 8/19/2026

Everything in the kid's area has been completed and we have the all clear to occupy the space.  The folks from the kids ministry have started moving things into their new rooms.

In the coming weeks there will be a new backdrop, rugs, graphics, and tech installed in the large room...but that isn't going to stop us from moving in.  :)

The interior of the new entrance is essentially completed.

The exterior is proceeding on schedule but our concrete pour had to move from Tuesday to Thursday due to the thunderstorms we experienced.  With that said, I am very impressed with the work the crews are doing and the design of the area.  When the project is over we will be leaving the youth with a great outdoor space to enjoy.  I can already see a wall loaded with youth sitting on it and playing basketball in the parking lot.

The roof of the area closest to Startown Road continues to be installed.  The corrugated metal shell, sheathing, and interior insulation continue to be installed.

The steel structure for the theater seating was installed.

Framing on the far wall (the production hallway) has been started.

While this building is still running behind building B, it is catching up.

The commercial kitchen is permitted through additional government entities and is being handled like a separate project within the larger project.  As such, it is on a different (slower) timeline.  That is why you see the large sheet of yellow plastic.  The shell of the kitchen is being built but everything else is running slower than the rest of building B.  This isn't an issue but actually something we baked into the project from the very early days.

The original copper/coax connection to Spectrum was replaced with a new optical fiber connection.  This will resolve a host of technical issues and outages we have been experiencing.  It also provides are more stable, faster, and dedicated connection to the internet.  As a side note...I can't lie.  I totally pestered the Spectrum fiber tech the whole time he was installing the electronics.  I had a hoot talking with him about telecom.

Cable conduits to the Roseman House were reconfigured to accommodate the new building entrance.  They had to be rerouted so they could deep enough to have concrete poured over them safely.

 About 1/2 inch of rain fell over the weekend, but no effect on work.

The steel erectors continued with the erection of steel on building “B”.  They installed insulation and roof panels.  They also continued with the steel on building “A” setting the columns along the firewall and connecting steel.  (8 men)

The concrete contractor poured the ramp section in the lobby.  ( 4men)

The electrician continued with the above-ceiling rough-in in building “A” and began wall rough-in on the perimeter.  (3 men)

Painters performed touch-up on walls and door frames in the children’s space.

The glass contractor installed door hardware.  (1 man)

The sprinkler contractor installed sprinkler lines in building “A”.  (2 men)

Charlotte Steel began installing the structural steel for the stadium seating.  (4 men)

RT Meacham began framing walls in building “A” as well as installing sheathing on the rear exterior of building “A”.  (9 men)

Grading contractor began demo on rear parking area.  (4 men)

Steel erectors continued with steel on both buildings.  (8 men)

Sprinkler, electrical, framing, sheathing, and structural steel all continued with the same number of workers as Monday.

Sprinkler (3 men) and electrical (3 men) contractors continued with rough-in in build “A”.

Erection contractor continue with setting steel for the remainder of building “A” and installed roofing and siding on building “B”.

The framing contractor continued to install sheathing on building “A”.

The grading contractor continued to work on retaining wall and demo for the rear parking lot.

Concrete contractor poured sidewalk.

Sprinkler (3 men) and electrical (3 men) contractors continued with rough-in
in build “A”. 

Erection contractor continue with setting steel for the remainder of
building “A” and installed roofing and siding on building “B”.

The framing contractor continued to install sheathing on building “A”.

The grading contractor continued to work on retaining wall and demo for the rear parking lot.

Concrete contractor poured sidewalk and formed handicap parking spaces.

The sprinkler contractor began rough-in on building “B".

The electrician continued with their rough-in.

Steel contractor continued with steel erection.
